What is yoga?
What is yoga at Yoga with Rupy?
Yoga is the journey of the self, through the self, to the self. (Bhagvad Gita).
This quote right here resonates so strongly for me in my personal yoga practise and my teaching practise.
'Yoga' in Sanskrit means union, and for me this means to unite with our creator, God, the Universe or whatever term you prefer to use. To be clear, yoga is not a religion, for me it is a way of being and thriving.
Therefore at Yoga with Rupy, our practise is very spiritual, yes, we focus on asana (physical poses) but we give as much attention to the other important practises such as pranayama (breathing) and meditation, to ensure a full experience for the mind, body and soul.
Creativity is an important part of our yoga practise. We're not averse to singing, chanting, dancing and reciting poetry too! Our creativity is a primal force that is everywhere in nature and is to be honoured in our practise, as it helps to connect with that unspoken voice in your heart and your soul.
I look forward to meeting you and connecting with you on the mat.
